A Heartfelt Gratitude to Manjushree Di Chen Buddhist Learning Center
From the age of six until the end of my teenage years, Manjushree Di Chen Buddhist Learning Center was more than just a place of education—it was my home, my shelter, and the foundation of who I am today.
I carry the teachings, values, and discipline I learned there deeply within me, and they continue to guide me through every step of my life. The love, compassion, and wisdom that were generously shared by the teachers and elders there have shaped my heart and mind in ways I can never fully put into words.
The memories I created at MDBLC are some of the most cherished in my life—from morning chants to evening studies, from playful laughter among friends to moments of quiet reflection in the shrine hall. These experiences are engraved in my soul. (Playing football ⚽ matches to win the JUMBO COKE) in the rainy weather) 😁
But then, life changed dramatically.
The 2015 earthquake struck unexpectedly and brought great loss to many. As the eldest son in a family with aging parents, I had no choice but to leave the Center and return to my village to support them. It was one of the hardest transitions I’ve ever faced. Leaving behind the monastic environment and re-integrating into the outside world was challenging. Yet, the inner strength and life skills I had gained at MDBLC helped me face it all with courage.
I eventually built a small mountain lodge in Sherpa Gaun, in the Langtang region, where I helped my family rebuild and thrive. Despite the distance, my connection to MDBLC never faded. I continued to visit the Center regularly, and I hold strong relationships with the teachers and monks who helped raise me.
In 2017, inspired by the compassion instilled in me, I began providing educational scholarships to children from remote Himalayan villages. To date, more than 18 underprivileged children have been given a chance to study in boarding schools in Kathmandu—something I’m incredibly proud of. It brings me immense joy to support others as I was once supported.
Currently, I am living in Germany, pursuing a three-year course in Wholesale and Foreign Trade Management. Every morning and night, I take a few moments to pray for the happiness, health, and safety of all sentient beings. No matter how far I travel, the teachings of MDBLC remain close to my heart.
I believe I am on a meaningful path. Success, for me, is not just about professional achievement—it’s about staying positive, living mindfully, and serving others with compassion. These are the values MDBLC gave me, and that, to me, is the greatest success of all.
From the bottom of my heart,
Thank you, Manjushree Di Chen Buddhist Learning Center.
You gave me everything I needed to live a meaningful life. I hope and pray that one day, I will return—not just to visit, but to serve once again, with gratitude and love.
I am endlessly grateful for the opportunity to have been nurtured there. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving me knowledge, discipline, kindness, and a safe space to grow.
It is my deepest wish and prayer to return one day—not just to visit, but to give back. I dream of volunteering there for several months, in any way I can, to serve the place that has given me so much.
With love, respect, and gratitude,
Lakpa
